Wayne Horne Earthmoving was formed in January 1988 when Wayne Horne was joined by Mike Beaumont as a financial and business partner. Mike’s farm at Sulky provided the base for the company’s operations. The first equipment purchased was a 580C Case backhoe and a 12-ton Kato excavator plus a low loader.

Initially there was just two staff and in the intervening years the company has steadily grown fluctuating to approx. 30 on the payroll in recent times. Early work concentrated on house foundations and roadworks for Vicroads. As the plant diversified the company moved into dam construction, drainage and general civil works. As the capacity of the plant further increased so has the company’s ability to undertake even larger projects.
